K.S. Aji Tone Workshop

Welcome to K.S. Aji Tone Workshop!

Hi there and welcome to my webpage

You might start by asking;  what’s a ‘tone workshop’  anyway?

(An even more obvious question would be, who is K.S. Aji? Hopefully you’ll be able to find out more about that as you read.)

Here on my blog my intention is to show you the fruits  of my long and painstaking efforts to find the perfect tone – or at least as close an approximation as I can manage! – by taking existing classic guitar pedals then tweaking and refining them.

Why do I do this?

The answer is quite simple; I love guitars! I love to play myself and I also love listening to others play. I have  many, many guitar heroes, from Segovia and Django Reinhardt to Muddy Waters and Albert King to Hendrix and SRV to Randy Rhoads, Van Halen, Malmsteen and Satriani as well as countless others. I am fairly confident that I’ve been exposed to  most of what is now recognized as the foundation of modern guitar music. It is the intention of everyone involved in the production of guitars, amplifiers and effects to recreate such distinctive tones.

My aim has been simply to build the best sounding guitar pedals that I can.

Who am I?

I’m not an electronics expert nor do I have a degree in electronics engineering – actually my degree is in Architecture.

Now, let’s get back to the pedals and how I go about making them. First of all, I learn, listen and practice.

The electronics involved in a guitar pedal/stompbox aren’t Rocket science! In fact, the refinement of a pedal’s existing circuitry is a straightforward and easy process.

All that is needed are a good pair of hands, the right tools, a basic knowledge of electronics  and  a good pair of ears. That last item is the most important one :)!

I’ve been playing guitar ever since I can remember, though I don’t  consider myself  a virtuoso or  shredder. I just love to play and listen, which is why I’ve been amassing a large collection of guitars, effects and amp. I frequently trade items from my collection so I’m not altogether sure what exactly has passed through my hands over the years! The centerpieces of my collection as it stands are Fenders, Gibsons and some vintage guitars.

That’s all about me and my work, I’ll try to update this blog and make improvements, time permitting.

I would appreciate any comments or suggestions you have. Best of all would be testimonials from any of you who have purchased one of my handmade pedals.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy this site.

Most of the content of my blog is and will be in Indonesian, so if you have any further questions that require English answers, please don’t hesitate to send me an email at ksaji@ksajitoneworkshop.com
